Meet the arrangers, Alex & Aubrey Woods
We're Alex and Aubrey Woods, professional violinists, husband and wife, and parents to five (expecting our sixth baby in January!) amazing kiddos. Our Woods Violins string arrangements grew out of the music we play and teach every day.
Alex is Professor of Violin at Brigham Young University, where he teaches violin, chamber music, and pedagogy. The New York Times has called his playing "showstopping." He has performed at Carnegie Hall, the Wiener Konzerthaus, and festivals around the world, and has collaborated with Itzhak Perlman and Pinchas Zukerman. His violin playing was also recently featured in Brandon Flowers's appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
Aubrey is concertmaster of the Ballet West Orchestra in Salt Lake City, and she regularly performs with the Utah Symphony. She has also played on the Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square broadcasts and recordings, and in studio sessions for film, television, and popular artists. As a private teacher, Aubrey loves sharing the joy of music with her students.
Performing at the Unbound Chamber Music Festival in Mammoth Lakes has been a highlight for both of us in recent summers. Playing side by side is what shaped our approach to arranging. We know how two violins should share the melody, how to give each part something worth playing, and where a passage will sit comfortably under the fingers. Every arrangement here has been played by us, and we've heard how it sounds in a room.
